ABOUT US

The Origins

of our Tea

Embarking on our journey in 2003, nearly two decades ago, we witnessed outdated agricultural methods and recognised the need for transformation. Pioneered by our visionary founder, Daw Nang Tharaphu Tint, a determined Danu ethnic woman, we ventured on a mission to revolutionise the tea industry in Myanmar and uplift the lives of Danu ethnic tea farmers and artisans.

Found in the northwest mountains of Pindaya township, Shan State, Myanmar, our factory is on an acre-wide plot with a pine grove and sandwiched between tea plantations on either side. However, this idyllic setting is not immune to the challenges of deforestation and soil erosion. These factors have transformed once-verdant hills into the distinct red-hued landforms we see today. Hence, our brand, Taung Tann Ni, meaning red mountains, emerged as a testament to our mission: to rekindle the lush greenery of the past and advocate for the preservation of soil quality and the natural ecosystem.

In 2017, we registered our corporate identity as Green Pindaya, symbolising our aspiration to restore the region's green splendour. Through meticulous learning and collaboration, we ushered in progressive changes, adopting terrace farming, strategic intercropping, precision agricultural technologies, soil conservation techniques, water management strategies, integrated pest management practices, and sustainable methodologies. Together, we craft a narrative of rejuvenation and sustainability in Myanmar's tea legacy.
